Nick’s tips for dating an indie rocker!
Hi, I’m Nick from Islands and this is a P.S.A. on dating the darling, charming and mysterious musicians we call “indie rockers.” While the new Islands’ album, A Sleep and A Forgetting, might provide insights into this subspecies in musical form, I’ve learned how to behave around them, win their affection and how to keep them around for longer than a night after the show. So if you find yourself considering dating an indie rocker, here’s my advice on how to do so.
1. Don’t.
2. If you absolutely must, or already are, make it brief and break up with him/her immediately.
3. If you insist on ignoring my prudent advice and continue dating, I strongly encourage that you conceal your true feelings. And your record collection. Trust me, your records are not cool enough.
4. Find a good A.A. counselor early on in the relationship and pick up some good literature on dealing with the cocktail of STDs you are sure to contract.
5. Smile and nod convincingly when they play their terrible music for you.
